The calculation rules
- VAT: monthly or quarterly returns on the 15th of the following month; annual return before 1 March for annual filers, before 1 May for others; exemption up to €50,000 of turnover.
- Annual accounts: approval within six months of the financial year end, filing no later than seven months after the year end.
- Direct taxes: company tax returns no later than 31 December of the following year; corporate income tax advances on 10 March, June, September and December, municipal business tax and net wealth tax advances on 10 February, May, August and November, if the ACD has set them.
- Salaries: wage tax withheld is declared and paid on the 10th of the following month from €750 per month.
Frequently asked questions
What is the deadline for filing annual accounts in Luxembourg?
Seven months after the financial year end, i.e. 31 July for a financial year ending on 31 December, and no later than one month after their approval.
Does the UBO register (RBE) need to be confirmed every year?
No. There is no annual confirmation. Each change must be declared within one month of becoming known.
When is the corporate tax return due in Luxembourg?
No later than 31 December of the year following the tax year. An extension requires a reasoned request to the tax office.
